CRY OF MARTYRS: Healing the Wound of Christ

We thank all the generous donors who contributed to Christian Social Movement of Nigeria (CSMN) to provide relief to persecuted Christians in Nigeria.  CSMN conducted distribution of relief at four locations in one week from 21st February – 28th February, 2020. The four locations are:

  1. Anyiin IDP Camp, Logo Local Government, Benue State
  2. Ugba IDP Camp, Logo Local Government, Benue State
  3. Unguwar Waziri Shato, Kargi Ward, Kubau LGA, Kaduna State
  4. Stephens Children Home (sons of martyrs), Abeokuta, Ogun State

The distribution in Benue State was done by CSMN in collaboration with Chairman, Benue State CAN and Global Christian Update. We are grateful for the support.

In Anyiin, Ugba, and Abeokuta, food items were distributed while in Kaduna State, Educational materials were provided to help some of the children. The relief distribution in Kaduna was done in collaboration with Hausa Christian Foundation (HACFO).

Reports at the various centers shall be provided separately. For now, this is the short report for Anyiin IDP Camp:

ANYIIN IDP Camp, Benue State

Population in the camp is over 36,000 displaced persons from their ancestral homes by Islamic insurgents. The children have been out of school for over four years. We went to Anyiin with 40 bags of 25kg rice, 4 bags of 100kg beans, Indomie, salt, magi, detergents and malaria treatment drugs, and cloths.

The humanitarian need in the camp is enormous and consistent help is needed for the brethren. We can do more, if more Christians are persuaded to support. Our goal is to make the relief distribution consistent and sufficient. In addition to food, there is the need for borehole to provide water, schoolsfor the children, and a long term settlement plan for the families.

As the photographs indicate, most of the people in the camp are women. Where are the men? There is the need for a long term support plan for the widows.

Two-prong approach

Supporting persecuted brethren is crucial for two reasons:

  1. It is a Christian duty commanded by God.
  2. It is strategic response. Christians in the North and Middle Belt must be reinforced.

One day, the Son of God shall return. According to His Word in Matt. 25: 31 – 46, He shall separate the nations into sheep and goats. On that day, where shall we stand?
