With due cognizance to the various warnings given by God in this season, the next prudent question should be “men and brethren, what shall we do?”
In the letter God told me to write to Church leaders on Monday 12th April 2021, He specifically stated that LEADERSHIP CRISIS is the major problem of the Nigerian Church. In mentioning “leadership crisis”, God is not simply talking about titles and positions in the Church. We have those in abundance. We need the leadership appointed and approved by God for this season.
In the OT, we observe that every time the children of Israel went astray, and God handed them over to their enemies, the first signal that God is willing to deliver them is that God will raise a leader. That was how Gideon, Jephtah, Barak, Othniel, Deborah, and the other judges were raised. There were Priests and Levites in the land when God raised leaders for Israel in times of crisis.
The main reason why we are disoriented, disorganized, dismayed, and distressed is because we have not discovered the God appointed leader for this crisis. When the God appointed leader arises, there shall be order and direction. The season we are in calls for leadership specifically ordained by God for this purpose. This is not about titles and positions. God has given us a pointer. We have LEADERSHIP CRISIS. This crisis must be resolved.
It is therefore counseled as follows:
1. Do not be afraid. Do not panic. Yes, we have been unfaithful to God, but Jesus Christ is Faithful and True. When we are faithless, He remains Faithful.
2. God has given us light.
God has spoken into our situation and He has told us what to do.
There are two things God requires:
a. Repentance
b. Produce the fruit of repentance.
God wants credible evidence that we are not simply repenting with our mouths, but our hearts and actions must match our confession. If you have access to any Church leader, encourage him to start preaching the message of repentance and ensure that the Nigerian Church regains moral authority. Holiness is our primary weapon of war in this crisis.
Upon Mount Zion there is deliverance and holiness. (Obadiah 17) There can be no deliverance without holiness. We must provide the fruit, the evidence of repentance.
This is greatly important. There must be genuine repentance. Please start at the individual level.
3. We must mobilize prayer that God will open our eyes, and our hearts, to recognize the leader He has appointed for us in this season of crisis. The God ordained leader will unite the Church, mobilize, harmonize, and deploy the resources of the kingdom of God in the Church.
There is a paradox playing out in Nigeria that we must not ignore. Christians are more and mightier in Nigeria, like the Israelites in Exodus 1: 9-10, yet they are tormented and oppressed. How come it is the people who are “more and mightier” that are oppressed?
I explained this in a message titled PARADOX OF THE MIGHTY. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr7DLdippYM
4. Let us begin to pray on Isaiah 8: 9 & 10 -
“Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.
Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.”
5. Self-defense is legal.
The delivery of Vienna, Austria, under Count Niklas Salm in 1529 marked the temporary termination of the Ottoman Empire’s expansion into Western Europe. The resistance in Austria was a combination of prayers and physical battle. God responded to prayers with heavy rainfalls and “unseasonably heavy snowfalls” in October 1529 to turn the Ottoman jihadists back.
The Austrians did not merely sit at home praying. They raised an army. Faith without works is dead.
Organize to defend yourselves. Self-defense is legal.
We are more than conquerors through Christ Who loved us.
Your brother in Christ,
Bosun
