On 13th and 18th December 2022, Fulani herdsmen attacked Kaura LGA area of Southern Kaduna. In the unprovoked and unwarranted attacks 40 Christians were murdered, 178 houses were burnt (102 houses in Mallugum alone), 29 motorcycles were destroyed, and 2 cars were burnt. The attackers turned 17 women into widows, due to the unprovoked attacks.
As Nigerians, the commitment in our Independence National Anthem in 1960 was that ‘Though tribes and tongues may differ, in brotherhood we stand’. Nigeria thereby enunciated the principle of ‘Unity in Diversity’.
Lay Faithful Trust Foundation conducted another round of relief distribution to Christian IDPs in Jalingo, Taraba State, in December 2022. Three IDP camps, listed above, were covered in the exercise. Items distributed include rice, noodles, palm oil, salt, and groundnut oil..

The Women of Faith of the St. Peter's Igbo Anglican Church, Hamilton, New Jersey, USA, in collaboration with the Lay Faithful Trust Foundation of Nigeria, conducted humanitarian relief distributions at two orphanages in Awka, Anambra State on Monday, 5th December 2022.
In response to the recent nationwide flooding of various communities in Nigeria, Lay Faithful Trust Foundation, with the generous support of Nigerian Christians, conducted relief distributions to help victims of the flood at the four cardinal points of the country – North, East, West, and South.
One of our sisters in Australia expressed desire to give some of the IDP widows some gifts. With her support, the following gifts were purchased for the widows:

In collaboration with Cottage of Hope, Rehabilitation and Empowerment Centre, Lay Faithful Trust Foundation supplied Salbutamol Syrup – (Asthma medication for adults and children) for IDP camps in Kaduna State. Salbutamol is used to rapidly treat asthma, bronchospasm, and reversible airways obstruction by widening the airways of the lungs.

Pastor Joel Mildai was fleeing with his family from Boko Haram when they had an accident which crippled him. He was bedridden since then.
During the empowerment project to Christian IDPs in Yola, Lay Faithful Trust Foundation was informed about his case, and the Foundation responded as follows:
The widow went to bed praying to God to give her a measure of fertilizer to apply on her farm. She had no money to purchase a bowl of fertilizer. If she wanted a good yield, she must apply fertilizer. She prayed herself to sleep, pleading with God to help.
National Christian Elders Forum (NCEF) has been observing events as Nigeria prepares for another election year in 2023. The intrigues and the horse trading by the political class are uncomfortable indications that those who rule Nigeria have not learnt any lesson from the errors of the past. The country cannot continue doing the same things repeatedly and expect different results.
