FOCUS : SOARING IN PERSONAL & NATIONAL DESTINY IN NIGERIA’S 61ST YEAR IN INDEPENDENCE - Part II
Isa 61:1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to ....” & John 14.12 “Verily, verily I say unto you, he that believes in Me, the works that I do he shall do also...”
- O Lord our great God, please anoint us afresh to do the works that Jesus Christ did and greater works as are needed for Nigeria’s peace, progress and Your glory
- Almighty God, You “determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings” (Acts 17.26). We are Your specifically designed and chosen indigenes and inhabitants of Nigeria for NOW. Neither our nationality nor our living today is an accident. Please help us by Your Spirit to squarely meet the human and divine expectations and requirements for our time.
Isa 61:4 “And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.”
- Eternal Jehovah, creation is groaning. Nigeria and beyond are reeling in pain. So much has been and is still being wasted. Please endue me, my family, and Your children in Nigeria with all grace, plus the passion and the “zeal of Thine house” as You had (John 2.17) to rebuild the old wastes, to raise up former desolations.
- Lord, “through wisdom is a house built; and by understanding it is established: and by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” (Prov 24.3-4). Thankfully, in You Lord Jesus Christ “are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Col 2.3) and You are in each believer. Stir us powerfully by Your Spirit and also boost our faith to take bold, knowledgeable, Spirit-led steps to repair the waste cities and desolations of precolonial, colonial and post-colonial Nigeria
- I specifically and humbly ask Lord, make me and my family instruments in Your hands for rebuilding Nigeria, advancing Your kingdom, establishing Your plan.
Isa 61:5 “And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.”
- Rather than strangers feed our flocks, the bulk of Your children are feeding the flocks of strangers – spiritual strangers within the country; spiritual and physical strangers in diverse lands worldwide. O, awesome God, have mercy upon us, please have mercy. You “Who who rideth upon the heaven in thy help,…and underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deut 33.26-27), please place underneath us Your everlasting arms. Help us Lord to turn our captivity and slide no more.

Pray other prayers you are led or burdened to pray including prayers for release of Leah Sharibu and others; just, profitable and peaceful resolution of herdsmen crises in Western Nigeria; that the 2020 protests will advance God’s purposes for Nigeria; that God’s righteousness and glory cover the earth, etc.
