PRAYER POINTS FOR THE 24/7 PRAYER CHAIN FOR THE BODY OF CHRIST & NIGERIA, Aug 15-21, 2021
THANKSGIVING: Give God thanks and praise for yourself, for your family, the Church and for Nigeria
REPENTANCE: Repent for all failings and shortcomings of yours, your family, the Church and Nigeria
that you can remember; then pray for grace upon you and all believers to live right.
PREAMBLE TO THE PRAYERS:
God’s starting point with us in the issue of our nation remains that we who are called by His name to turn from our wicked ways; then He will heal our land. So, we must squarely face the job of getting the Church to turn from wicked ways. Today we will be focusing on the new birth experience starting point of a Christian towards that end.
In the physical, a new-born baby, if not properly taken care of, would die or grow up deformed. Same applies in the spiritual. The large number of people called by God’s name walking in iniquity is partly due to how they got converted and were followed up. Irrespective of this situation, praying like Paul did for his converts would go a long way to correct things. So, today, we would be praying for believers in our churches in our nation as follows:
PRAYERS:
1. Let us thank God for all who have come to know Christ indeed as LORD and SAVIOR. None comes to Him without having been pulled by Him. Eph. 1:15.
2. Let us ask God, like Paul did in Eph. 1:16-17, to grant believers in our nation the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God they have come into.
3. Let us ask God according to:
a. vs. 18: to open the eyes of understanding of us believers, in all churches in Nigeria, so that our eyes being enlightened, we may know what is the hope of God’s calling, the riches of the glory of His inheritance in us the saints and
b. vs. 19-21: that we may also know what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe according to the working of His mighty power, which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, power, might and dominion.
4. Next, let us also pray:
a. Eph. 3:16 – that God would grant us Believers in Nigeria, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in our inner man
b. Vs. 17: that Christ may dwell in our hearts by faith, be rooted and grounded in love, be able to comprehend with all saints, what is the breadth, length, depth and height of the love of Christ
c. Vs. 19: that we Christians in Nigeria might know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge and that we be filled with all the fullness of God.
5. Let us now pray what Paul prayed for the Christians at Phillipi:
a. Philippians 1:9-10: that the love of Christians in Nigeria may abound more and more in knowledge and in judgement; and that Christians in Nigeria shall approve things that are excellent, be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ
b. V. 11: that we be filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
6. Let us pray the prayers made for the Colossian Christians:
a. Phil. 1:9-10: that we Nigerian Christians be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that we walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, be fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God
b. Vs. 11: that we be strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness
7. P-L-E-A-S-E pray for release of the children abducted over 1 month ago, for Leah Sharibu and others; and pray that our Omnipotent and Omniscient God would in mercy uproot the root cause(s) of the wickedness.
