PRAYER POINTS FOR THE 24/7 PRAYER CHAIN FOR THE BODY OF CHRIST & NIGERIA, May 8-13, 2022
THANKSGIVING & REPENTANCE: Isa_49:15 “Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee” God is too faithful to fail or disappoint any committed Child of God. Thank God that He has not forgotten Leah Sharibu and will yet glorify His name in her life. Also, ask God for mercy and forgiveness for all of your sins, those of your family, the Church and Nigeria; pray for grace to "turn from...wicked ways" and live in obedience; that our land may be healed (2 Chron. 7.14). Seek God’s help for sustained righteousness in the land.
FOCUS OF THE WEEK: Freedom & Restoration for Leah Sharibu; Others like her; and IDPs
PRAYER POINTS:
Psa_102:13 “Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come” We have no credentials of Leah Sharibu, of ourselves, or of anyone to present as qualification. Please pray for God’s forgiveness for our sins and shortcomings; and plead for His mercy. Go boldly and confidently before God’s throne of grace….but not with credentials like the publican.
1Sam_2:30 “… for them that honour me I will honour” Ask God to have compassion and consider the uncommon faith of Leah Sharibu, captured at age 14, refusing to deny Jesus Christ at that tender age of 14. Pray that the Lord will honour that faith and encourage others, old and especially the teeming young ones. Like Moses, plead with God, that the unbelievers and Jihadists should not have any cause to conclude that God is not able to save or deliver those who trust in Him.
Exo_6:1 “Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.”
How could Israel have defeated Pharaoh and his armies? How could Israel have demolished the walls of Jericho? Pray to God to let us see His strong hand again in Nigeria now…that Leah Sharibu might be set free and any others like her; that Christians in IDPs may return to their God-given homelands; that all be restored
2Th_1:6 “Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you”
Do not ask God. He has already purposed and ordained it. Wherever God’s word is spoken and/or applied with faith, God’s angels move to enforce and fulfill. Decree that everything and everyone that has conspired or contributed to hold Leah Sharibu and any others like her in captivity; displace the IDPs and keep them in misery while Nigeria is donating to Afghanistan that has no IDPs or natural disaster should receive their just recompense; and the God of righteousness and justice should render justice to Leah and the IDPs.
Mar_9:42 “And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea” There are reports that Leah Sharibu has been forcefully married as a teen; that some ladies are being forced into prostitution because of hardship and deprivation in the IDP camps. Let’s pray that God should enforce this word and free Leah before her birthday on May 14
MATTERS ARISING IN THE NATION: Pray for other matters arising in the nation as observed or as the Spirit of God leads; cast down evil imaginations that lead men to attack airports, trains, etc. Pray that in the ongoing political party primaries etc, God’s counsel shall stand in all irrespective of what the hearts of men have devised; pray for an end to the war in Ukraine; pray for Israel etc.; and give thanks and praise to God.
SPECIAL PRAYER
- Psa_30:5“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning” Pray that – after 5 years in captivity – Leah Sharibu shall be set free ON OR BEFORE HER 19TH BIRTHDAY on May 14; and other less-known persons in captivity like her
